RiverFest 2007

When downtown Wilmington's streets host a family fun festival that winds its way along the Cape Fear River. Continuous live entertainment is featured on two outdoor stages during this festival that celebrates the area's rich heritage with music, arts and crafts, exhibits, dance performances, contests, children's activities, food, river events, friendly competitions, fireworks and more.
There are also some 'Pre' and 'After' happenings at the local clubs.

- Invasion of the Pirates - Boat Floatila
The event begins Friday Oct. 5th, around 4pm (exact time will depend on the tides) with the arrival of the Captain Horatio Sinbad of the Meka II and his entire crew. On Saturday morning the Shadow Players will perform a FREE show at the Children's Museum before the Treasure Hunt Begins. They will be at the Street Fair all day Saturday and Sunday too! Children who want to Treasure Hunt will go to the Pirate's Den, where all things Pirate, begin. At 7:15pm on Saturday night the Flotilla begins. Lighted, decorated Pirate Ships compete for prizes and trophies. The Flotilla sails from the Isabella Holmes Bridge to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and back again. When all the vessels are back in their slips their success is signaled by a magnificent PIRATE-TECHNIX DISPLAY (fireworks) over the Cape Fear River.

Five 2-hour screenings of locally-made independent films will be shown at the Coastline Convention Center . Admission charge, per film block, is $3.50/advance (advance tix at Thalian Hall box office) and $4.00 at the door.
